When I was 31 years old, my world began to crumble when I took the call that changed my life.
I had cancer. Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
With a 4 year old and a 6 month old, I laced up my shoes and went to battle. As a way of "one-upping"
cancer, I shared my struggle publicly. With a sassy sometimes smart assy attitude, I took my fight
to the gym, and would literally sweat the chemo out while sharing my fight on Facebook.
The workouts became a social media movement known as #everysweatmatters. A campaign that also
allowed my team to raise over $70,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
"Because if I was still able to sweat, I was winning. Every workout mattered. I was simply sweating for
something bigger, and every sweat mattered." -Katy
Some might say my story is inspiring, but I see it as more of a call to action. Sweating for something bigger is so much more than working out. It's about taking full advantage of this one shot you have at life.
